Happy Anniversary!!! Do not be ashamed about reading chick lit. I love the stuff. In fact, if you have any recommendations, please pass them on.
Your diet sounds so good and healthy! I am impressed. Have you noticed a difference in cravings since you started avoiding high fructose corn syrup? I need to rid my diet of that evil stuff. I cannot remember why it is so bad, but I knwo I read some article about it.
Yes, I like communicating via the blogs, too. As for your diet, thanks for the info. I looked up HFCS and found a lot of interesting info. some researchers believe it actually affects our metabolism!!! Interestingly, I had heard online that some mothers swear that it makes their kids hyper, while regular sugar and honey do not. Anyway, I am now going to be really careful about it. As you said, the more you avoid it, probably the more natural your foods will be as it is in all things processed.
I have a recipe for a wrap that I think you would love. I buy Flat-Out Wraps (I get them at walmart in the deli section). They are very high in fiber (9 grams) and are rather big. Then I spread 2 Tablespoons of Alouette light cheese spread, garlic and herbs flavored. Then I put on turkey and veggies, like grated carrot (nice because they add crunch) lettuce, green onions, sprouts etc. They are so yummy and really filling. I highly recommend them. And it is a pretty painless way to get in a little bit of vegetables. Let me know if you try them. I am going to try the pudding and pumpkin once I get to the store.
I just noticed you had your weigh-in even though you didn't post a blog. You did so great!! Another 2.5. You are now out of the 190s. I am so happy for you!!! This is so great.
There was once an actual salamander in my Dad’s slipper (His house is in a rather wooded area and is a haven to many non-human creatures.), and my best friend and I thought that would make a great children’s book title. We never wrote the book, but I figured I might as well put the catchy phrase to use as my blog title. Why not? (We don't know for sure if it was really a salamander vs. some other kind of lizardlike creature, but we were going for the alliteration. Artistic license, ya know?)
I'm a 35-year-old woman currently living in small-town MO. I'm from Springfield, MO's 3rd-largest city, and I'll hopefully reside there again in the summer of 2010. I'm currently a stay-home mom to my 6-year-old son, Nicholas, but I'm also a classically-trained soprano, and I still sing in choirs when I get the chance and have the occasional paid solo gig. I'm also a certified group fitness instructor, and I teach a body sculpting class at my gym, in addition to subbing for other classes (like step and yoga) as needed. I consider myself pretty intelligent and well-educated (Bachelor's in vocal performance with a minor in German), and have sometimes been known to have a deep thought or two. :) I might even have some worth sharing. Most of my posts, though, will probably be more mundane, superficial ramblings about my daily life. Stay tuned, and let me know what you think! (Could I BE more long-winded?) :)
