the price of gas
Some of you might find this rather boring, but I thought it would be interesting to ask everyone to share the price of gas where you live, just so that we can see how it compares around the country (and even in England - Christie?). Here, I can fill up my tank right now for $1.97/gallon. How about you?

In Lawton, OK my parents are getting it for $1.82.
I paid $1.89 here on post today ( :

It has also been 1.89 at Buckhorn for a few days.
$1.86 here in South Texas, crazy huh? If someone had told me in June that gas would be this cheap I probably would've laughed at them.
Right now, the cheapest I've seen it is around 93 pence per litre. As there are about 4 litres to a gallon, we pay around £3.72 per gallon, or around $7.44 per gallon. I think we've paid around $7 per gallon since I moved here 4 and a half years ago, so that's not too bad for us.
Wow! Over $7/gallon in England! I guess we Americans should all be pretty happy with what we pay! I just noticed it's down to $1.87 at my "local" station.
Gas is still well above $2/gal in North Carolina. Here in Hillsborough I think it's around $2.25.
It had been costing us nearly £40, so almost $80, to fill up our tiny little car (Nissan Micra...don't think you have that in the US), but now that the price has dropped (and loads of supermarkets are giving you 5 pence per litre off when you spend £50 or more on groceries, so that helps too), we just recently spent £30 (£60) to fill up the car. That's a big improvement!
In Effingham, it has been around $2.08, but in Chicago it is still up to about $2.38. I thought we had it good in Effingham, but you guys who are under $2, I am jealous. Definitely won't be moving to the UK anytime soon, though. Yikes, how can anyone afford a car there?
